Undergraduate student research funding and support is primarily made available through the UF Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR). UF Undergraduates interested in pursuing research should begin by looking at the UF Center for Undergraduate Research. CUR is committed to fostering a culture of research that encourages all students to include a research component as a critical part of their undergraduate experience. CUR provides guidance to students and faculty interested in pursuing research opportunities and the coordination of campus research activities. CUR also works to expand research opportunities across campus

UF FUNDING FOR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND TRAVEL
In the Center for Undergraduate Research University Scholars Program (USP), students work one-on-one with UF faculty on selected research projects. The USP program will make approximately 200 awards, university-wide, each year. These are distributed across all of the colleges on campus.
To apply for this Program, you must go through an internal selection process in the College of the Arts.
Reubin Askew Scholars Program awards individuals with $2000 over the course of an academic year to support a significant public service or research project. The program will require participation in the life of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service.
Application Deadline: Students apply during the spring to be recognized as an Askew Scholar for the following academic year. Students should apply with at least two full semesters remaining before graduation.
Graham Civic Scholars 2023 offers UF undergraduates an opportunity to engage in a semester of entry-level research. The Spring 2023 Civic Scholars will design a research approach around the topics of civic engagement, public opinion, and public policy.
Enrollment in a 3-credit course instructed by Graham Center Civic Scholar coordinator Audrey Smith is required. Each student will receive a $500 scholarship.
The Emerging Scholars Program encourages early undergraduate students who are interested in adding a research experience to their curriculum at the freshman or sophomore year to apply for this entry-level program. The award consists of a $1,000 stipend to be used during the Fall and Spring of your research project. Students commit to a research paper and poster presentation at the completion of their project.
COTA supports three Emerging Scholars Program participants in the arts.

The Center for Undergraduate Research Travel Fund funds travel (up to $500) for students to travel to National Conferences to present their research conducted at UF. All students in all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

- Must be first author
- Must be accepted at a National Conference
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must provide application, presentation abstract, and official confirmation of acceptance
UF Research Excellence Program for Undergraduates, REPU is open to ALL undergraduate researchers who have or intend to prepare, conduct, and disseminate research.
Students can enroll at any time. The program includes required and flex points. It is the student’s responsibility to document their completion of program requirements. If completed, they will receive a graduation chord and be recognized in the commencement book. Summer Undergraduate International Research Program (SUIRP) provides undergraduate students with funding to conduct research at a foreign institution.

- Must not be graduating before December of the calendar year
- Must be an 8-10 week program
The Alfred A. Cave Endowment Annual Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing study of Native American history (including archaeology). Candidates will write a two-page essay describing their interests in Native North American history and plans for future studies.
The amount of the award is $1,000 for the academic year Fall 2023-Spring 2024. Applications are due by March 31, 2023. All applications should be sent electronically to Ken Sassaman (sassaman@ufl.edu).

- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
- Welcome applications from enrolled members of Native American communities, but outstanding non-Native applicants are also eligible.

WENTWORTH STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS
Eligibility: UF undergraduate, current UF Honors student. Preference given to freshmen or sophomores in Honors Program who have not gone abroad before.
Deadline: Apply online through the International Center Study Abroad Services. There is no separate application for the Honors Program scholarships.
ALBERT G. RAYBUN SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: UF Honors juniors with a current FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid office.

The Brown Center for Leadership and Service (BCLS) provides funding opportunities and trainings for public and AEI work to help students contribute to a just, thriving global community through leadership development, community-engaged learning, and positive social change.
Projects for Peace – $10,000 national award for top submissions for projects designed to build peace in the twenty-first century.
Path to Purpose – year-long leadership and social change fellowship grounded in a community organizing model.
The James W. Van Horn Music Fund is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who are working on their Masters or PhD in Music and have a proficiency in chorale singing, composing, or conducting.
The University of Florida Friends of Theatre and Dance scholarship acknowledges outstanding graduate and undergraduate students within the department of Theatre & Dance with an award amount of $750.
Submit your proposals to the Community Engagement Impact Funding to support your student-led engagement project focused within Alachua County. Projects should be designed to address critical needs in the Gainesville community. Award amounts vary between $500-$2,000.
UF FUNDING FOR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH CONFERENCES
The Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium gives students a chance to present their research. All areas of research are accepted. Presenting at the symposium gives students valuable presentation experience, as well as a place to network and learn about research in a variety of fields.
Visit their website for abstract submittal deadlines. Abstracts should be 250 word max.
Annual Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) facilitates conversations surrounding undergraduate research and ideas for supporting undergraduate research. FURC is open to all undergraduate researchers in the state of Florida to present their research in a poster format.
Florida Undergraduate Research Leadership Summit (FURLS) provides undergraduate researchers the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss student-led initiatives, while creating and solidifying a network between all schools in Florida of leaders in undergraduate research.
Note: This opportunity does not offer stipends.
FUNDING OUTSIDE UF FOR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH, TRAVEL, AND EXPERIENCES
Boren Awards help fund study abroad trips for U.S undergraduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests.
Maximum awards are determined by duration abroad:
- Up to $25,000 for 25-52 weeks (preferred)
- Up to $12,500 for 12-24 weeks
- Up to $8,000 for 8-11 weeks (STEM majors only)
Humanity in Action Fellowship offers several onsite and in-person fellowship opportunities that challenge fellows to understand their host city’s unique history of injustice, its present struggles to encompass groups with minoritized cultures and identities, and the future of its democratic values.
Each fellowship has its own deadlines and application requirements.
Jane C. Waldbaum Archaeological Field School Scholarship is intended to help students who are planning to participate in archaeological field work for the first time. The Scholarship provides $1000 to be used towards expenses associated with participation in an archaeological field work project (minimum stay one month/4 weeks).
Eligibility:
- The scholarship is open to students who have begun their junior year of undergraduate studies at the time of application and have not yet completed their first year of graduate school
- Must be at least 18 years old and must not have previously participated in archaeological field work of any kind.

College Center for Research Fellowships Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship is available for promising young graduates of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and other prestigious institutions in recognition of alumna Kate Neal Kinley’s dedication to the arts.
Three major fellowships are awarded:
- One of up to $20,000 in any field of music
- One of up to $20,000 in architectural design and history, art and design, dance, instrumental or vocal music, or theatre
- One of up to $9,000 in architecture, art, dance, landscape architecture, theatre, or urban and regional planning

UNDERGRADUATE JOURNALS AT UF
Published once a year, UF Journal of Undergraduate Research features research in the arts and humanities, social, behavioral, education, STEM and medicine. Students submit their work with faculty/mentor approval.
The University Writing Program’s new journal, WAVES, is accepting research-based works, fiction, poetry, comics, digital projects (e.g., photo or video essays, podcasts, and archival projects), photography, visual art, and community-engaged projects.

Mentee 101 & other CUR e-Learning Modules – Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR)
All CUR e-Learning Modules can be found on their website.
Mentee 101 is a training module designed for all undergraduate students in all disciplines who would like to learn how to have a successful undergraduate research experience. We encourage faculty to recommend this training to their student mentees. It takes about 30 minutes to complete.
Note: This training is required for USP, Emerging Scholars and URSP.
